The Big Acorns

The Pod Playground, located at the National Arboretum Canberra in Molonglo Valley, is home to the Big Acorns. Here’s everything you need to know about these giant acorns in this part of the Australian Capital Territory.

The giant acorns depict children’s play equipment at the playground. Some play equipment you’ll find at this popular playground include giant banksia seeds and nest swings.

Often referred to as the ‘Acorn Park’, this playground is ideal for kids of all ages. Some fun activities to expect at this playground include:

  • Clambering across the climbing nets
  • Playing hide and seek in the acorn cubbies
  • Creating music in the banksia cubbies
  • Sliding down the tube slides

The playground also features a public restroom and changing rooms. As their kids have fun at the playground, parents or guardians can enjoy coffee from the nearby cafe, coupled with amazing views of the landscape.

The big acorns in Molonglo Valley aren’t the only Big Things under the nut family. There’s also the Big Macadamia Nut in Woombye and the Big Peanut in Tolga. Both towns are in Queensland.

If you’re looking for other Big Things outside ACT that come with a playground for kids outside ACT, there’s plenty of options to consider. The Big Rocket in Moree, New South Wales, is a great place to start.
