The Story of The Big Cherries

Cherries are some of the most widely-represented Big Things of Australia. As we take a look at the different cherry-inspired Big Things across the country, let’s first begin in Pages Flat.

The Big Cherry in Pages Flat, South Australia, is home to two gigantic sculptures of cherries. You’ll find these larger-than-life sculptures at Fleurieu Cherries on Pages Flat Road.

The cherry farm sells over 20 different varieties of cherries and is open to visitors. At the farm, you’ll have a chance to choose both sweet and sour cherries or even make cherry jam, relish or ice cream.

You’ll also learn more about the cherry growing process and pick your own cherries from the trees if you wish to. And, if you love the outdoors, the farm has a spacious and well-maintained lawn perfect for relaxing as you enjoy the fresh cherries or cherry products from the farm.

Away from The Big Cherries in Pages Flat, you’ll also find other two equally-oversized cherries at the Cherry Shed in Latrobe, Tasmania. Adjacent to the Bass Highway, these massive cherry sculptures have tiny windows where visitors can hop in and stick their heads out for the perfect photo-op.

In Wyuna, Victoria, there’s also the coolest cherry sculpture you’ll ever come across in the Big Things of Australia list. The Big Cherry in Wyuna wears dark sunglasses, white gloves and a heart-warming smile.

Then there’s also the three Big Cherries in Young, New South Wales, which look even juicier than actual cherries. Advertising the Cherry Capital of Australia, as the town is fondly referred to, you’ll find them along the Olympic Highway. So if you love the Big Things of Australia and cherries, the towns of Pages Flat, Latrobe, Wyuna and Young should be on your travel bucket list.
